When modeling...
- Have credible character.
- Justify the add-ons/disability on the character e.g. why he might have the defect that he has.
- Think about story of the character. This is very important because I need to model a character based on his/hers past history. The character will evolve around his/her history.
- Coming up with something different. Modeling something that hasn't been done before, coming up with a lateral idea rather than a cliché concept.
- Have some culture to the character.
- Add feelings to the character
- Functional over everything else
- Examples of character
- Look at Lord of the rings - has amazing character
- ET from start wards -
- Darth Vader
- Mad max - the car has some history, functional design
Process
- Emotion - Find a emotion first before doing anything.
- Description of character - Write a description of the character, this is important. You need to know what you are modeling before you start modeling. Find reference much as possible
- Moodboard - to generate ideas
- Sketching - try different features and see if it works. You can rip off movies if you want, no one will see this. This is only for you to come up with ideas
- Specifics - what dose he have? Weird defects. Look at reference to help you model. Do a 3D scan - find with the skin look like or feel like.
- Model - Make the model.
- ASK FOR FEEDBACK!
- Do different tests - light test, texture test

Moodboard
This is mood board that I created to influence me when modeling. I am going for scary looking character so I looked at what scars me.

Drawing
I wanted try out different body size and see if it looks good before modeling.
Here I was exploring what types of head I might like to use for my model. I was looking for something different.
Here I have tried to come out with a body for the head. I didnt like it because it wasn't what I was looking for.
This is my final idea. I was looking at culture of the character which was mix of egyptian. I used a wolf's head and humans body and digs leg and scorpion tail.
Final zBrush Model
Here's a turntable of my final character. I think this uni was very useful since I never used ZBrush and I am kinda proud of my outcome. I will need to add colour/texture to my work, which can be done. Due to the time I didn't get around to adding texture to it.
